Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state of mind in which we are in every day without even knowing it. When we are between sleep and wakefulness we are in hypnosis. Ηypnosis is that state of mind between wakefulness and deep relaxation, where we are neither awake or asleep and we maintain our consciousness.
There are a variety of processes by which the therapist can facilitate someone to enter hypnosis. The most common procedure is progressive relaxation. The therapist instructs the person how to gradually relax the body. Necessary is that the person who is going into hypnosis must want to enter and follow the instructions. If these two conditions are present, then the person will easily enter into a state hypnosis, deep relaxation. During hypnosis the person maintains the consciousness and control of his body. Hypnosis is a perfectly safe process and can come out of it at any time the person wishes.
After the person enters a state of hypnosis, deep relaxation, the therapist leads the person to contact with their unconscious in complete safety, aiming to remember the unconsciousness of the person. and restarting all their abilities and potentials, relieving themselves from the traumas that affect their life. Hypnotherapy helps the person to get in touch with their natural resources and their inner capacities. Re-energizing their inner potential and abilities, the person realizes that within themself is the power they need to overcome any obstacle that stands in their way.
The great effectiveness of hypnotherapy is due to the fact that it identifies the initial trauma which is then processed and discharged. The initial trauma is the cause of the problem. Once the initial trauma is identified, hypnotherapy heals the problem in depth. The treatment can even be done during first session but it usually takes a series of sessions. The amount of sessions varies from person to person and depends on how much the person is open to the process of change and healing as well as the natural resources, i.e. how quickly the person assimilates the information given during hypnosis.
